Steve Bauer Bike Tours History
Steve Bauer and his former partner Annick Gies founded Steve Bauer Bike Tours Inc. in spring 1997.
After Steve retired from professional racing in 1996, Annick provided the idea and belief in the Niagara Region was a viable platform to start bicycle tours locally in Ontario, Canada.
The company has grown and expanded from humble beginnings as a bike rental and day tour operation in Niagara Wine Country to a licensed retail and wholesale tour operator of domestic and international biking trips.
Today, Steve is still very much involved in overseeing the activity of SBBT as the president and expert knowledge of the cycling world, supported with his qualified cycling guide team which resultes to an expanding range of cycling experiences that now include a wide variety of Trips,Training Camps, and Custom Trips.
Steve Bauer Bike Tours was designated as the official inbound tour operator for the 2003 UCI World Cycling Championships in Hamilton, Ontario. In fact, Steve helped design the challenging race course for the event and he thoroughly enjoyed seeing the top cyclists in the world compete on the roads he trained on as a teenager.
In response to increased demand from return guests and new inquiries; SBBT has increased its offering of trips based around major international cycling events.
A key area of expertise of Steve Bauer Bike Tours is guiding people through the viewing logistics of the most reknowned cycling events such as the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France or the annual UCI World Road Cycling Championships. Our guests enjoy the feeling of being in the environment of a professional race, challenging themselves on the race course while at all times savouring the wonderful experiences europe has to offer.
One of the most satisfying things fo the company as it grows, is to see the Passion for Biking shared by so many people, moving at their own pace, whether training in Tucson or climbing the Alps or Pyrenees along with the Tour de France. |
